All plans & specs must be obtained from Des Moines Water Works, Plan Rooms will not be allowed to post these plans & specs. The work includes, but is not necessarily limited to: 1. Construction of a new divider wall within the existing Nitrate Removal Facility building to enclose existing electrical equipment and a new VFD for West High Lift Pump No.1. 2. Installation of ventilation and heating equipment to serve the new electrical room in the Nitrate Removal Facility. 3. Structural modifications to the existing Nitrate Removal Facility building to accommodate the new equipment. 4. Installation of new VFD pre-procured by the Owner. 5. Offloading of the new pre-procured VFD when it is delivered to the site. Transportation of the new VFD to the Nitrate Removal Facility for temporary storage while the divider wall construction and other building modifications are ongoing. 6. Instrumentation and controls to integrate the new VFD into the Water Works existing facilities. 7. Construction and installation of ancillary facilities to support the new VFD. The Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities in any bid. The Board also reserves the right to accept the bid that it determines to be in the best interest of the Board in accordance with Chapter 26 and Subchapters II and III of Chapter 73A, Code of Iowa. The Proposal shall be made out on a preprinted form furnished by the Board and must be accompanied in a separate envelope by a Bid Bond or other security ("bid security") permitted by statute. The amount of the bid security shall be ten percent (10%) of the bid submitted by the bidder. The bid security shall be made payable to the Board. The bid security must not contain any conditions either in the body or as an endorsement thereon. The bid security shall be forfeited to the Board as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails or refuses to enter into a Contract within ten (10) days after the award of Contract and post bond satisfactory to the Board. The Contractor's Bond shall be in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract price, be issued by a responsible surety approved by the Board, guarantee the faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, protect and save harmless the Board from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operation of the Contractor, guarantee materials and workmanship to be free of defects for a period of two (2) years from and after completion and acceptance by the Board, guarantee surface restoration work in public right-of-way to be free of defects for a period of four (4) years from and after completion and acceptance by the Board, and shall otherwise in all respects comply with the Code of Iowa. The Board reserves the right to defer acceptance of any Proposal for a period not to exceed forty-five (45) calendar days from the date of receipt of bids. The Notice to Proceed will be issued after the Contract is signed and the Contract, the Contractor's Bond, and the insurance certificates required by the Contract are received by the Board. Work shall begin within ten (10) calendar days after the date set forth in the written Notice to Proceed. The improvements shall be substantially completed by September 30, 2025, with final completion by October 31, 2025. Bidders are urged to consult the Contract Documents before submitting a proposal. Those documents include, among other things, liquidated damage provisions. The successful bidder will be required to furnish Contractor Liability insurance certificates in amounts to cover contractor liability for work to be completed. All policies shall be in the amount and form and written by companies satisfactory to the Board. All certificates of insurance shall be delivered to the Board prior to commencement of any operation.
