A temporary diesel operated compressor shall be provided during the removal installation period so the compressed air supply to the buildings and the service equipment is not interrupted. The temporary units shall have the same capacity and pressure as the existing compressors. **Note: Amtrak forces will do concrete pad work once existing compressor and air dryer is demolished/removed. Contractor will return to complete installation of new compressor and air dryer. Proposed Demolition Work (Phase 1): Perform necessary field surveys and assessments of the site/location. Identify limitations for the removal of existing equipment. Remove existing compressor and associate dryer. Remove electrical wiring to the disconnect. Inspect the existing concrete. (Amtrak forces will repair/replace concrete pad) Remove piping from compressor to flanged valve. Remove inlet and outlet piping from dryer to flanged valves. Support compressor exhaust duct during compressor removal. Connect the temporary diesel operated compressor to the compressed air piping supplying the air receiving tank and connect the outlet of tank to building and services. A centrifugal separator with an auto-drain to be installed at the inlet of the air tank. Separator to be sized for the compressor CFM rating and pressure. The drain to be piped to the outdoors. An automatic drain valve 1/2 " (15 gpm min drain rating) to be installed at the air receiving tank drain. The valve shall be wired for 110V and set to operate every hour for 15 seconds. A low point drain valve to be installed. Valve will be operated to remove manually any moisture accumulated. Removal of any fencing to access the equipment. PHASE 2: INSTALLATION OF NEW EQUIPMENT Install compressor at the proper location. Level and anchor on the concrete pad, 1/2 " SS Anchors Install system controller panels. Install the new dryers. Level and anchor 1/2 " SS Anchors Install new piping to existing isolation valve to compressor. Install braded stainless steel flex connector at each compressor. Compressor outlet piping shall be installed on top of the pipe header (gooseneck) to prevent moisture carry over. See representative P&ID Install new piping from the existing inlet and outlet valves to dryer. Piping material carbon steel or copper K-brazed. Size diameter same or larger to the existing. Provide oil water separator rated for the compressor drain, air receiving tank and centrifugal Air water separator. Provide a duct transition from the new compressor exhaust to the existing duct. A flex connection at the compressor outlet is required. Duct transition, same material, and thickness with the existing duct. Inspect existing duct work for debris and clean duct accordingly. Provide drain piping, 1" diameter, from each compressor, air receiving tank and centrifugal separator to the oil water separator. Pipe the oil water separator to the outdoors. Check each existing air receiving tank's pressure rating. The minimum rating shall be 200 PSI. Tanks shall be ASME stamped for at least 200 PSI if not they shall be replaced with the same CFM capacity and a minimum 250 PSI rating. Install a 185 PSI pressure relief valve on each tank. The piping at the outlet of the PRV shall be same size as the inlet and length no more than 1'-0" from the floor. Install conduit and wiring from a disconnect switch to the new compressor and dryer. Wiring for 460/3/60. The contractor shall survey the existing electrical disconnects, the electrical power feeds, and breakers. If they do not comply with NEC for the power equipment power loads, they shall be upgraded. Install all the required electrical wiring, breakers, and disconnects for the proper operation of the new equipment. Install all the required controls for the controllers and monitors as per the manufacturer's recommendations. Rigid galvanized conduit shall be used. All electrical work as per NEC by a licensed electrician in the state of FL. Test the operation of the electric room heater. Replace as needed. All walls and roof penetration shall seal with the same material and vapor barrier. Contractor shall provide updated wiring and piping diagrams. Arrange equipment so controls and devices are accessible for servicing. Maintain manufacturer's recommended clearances for service and maintenance. Install the following devices on compressed-air equipment: o Thermometer and Pressure Gages. o Pressure Regulators: Install downstream from air compressors and dryers. o Automatic Drain Valves: Install on receiver tanks, inline filters, air dryers and where indicated on the reference P&ID drawing. Provide 3 hard copies of operating/maintenance manuals and drawings to Amtrak representative and an electronic copy to the Amtrak Project Manager.
