Siding and Partial Roof Modifications - Middle School Project Each bid must contain a bond, cashiers or certified check, or certified share draft in the amount of five percent (5%) of the base bid, including alternates, in a separate attached envelope. Bid security shall be made payable to Glenwood Community School District. Performance Bond and Labor, Material and Payment Bond will be required by the successful bidder in the full amount of the contract. Should the successful bidder fail or neglect to furnish satisfactory Performance / Payment Bonds, refuse to enter into a contract on the basis of the bid, or fail to meet the requirements of this Notice and the specifications regulating the award, the bidder's security may be retained as liquidated damages. No bidder may withdraw its bid for a period of forty-five (45) calendar days after the date and hour set for receiving bids. The School District may make the contract award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder meeting the Contract Documents. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract or contracts as shall be deemed in the best interests of the School District. Project Description: Work includes, but is not limited to: 1. Work under this Contract provides for all work required for siding, and reroofing work associated with the Siding and Partial Roof Modification project, as shown in the Bidding Documents. 2. Base Bid: a. Remove existing siding, and soffit around Roof Area 9. b. Remove, salvage and replace existing metal roof edge as required to install new siding. c. Remove and replace any bad exterior sheathing or wood stud framing as required. d. Provide new vinyl siding, soffit, and weather barrier. 3. Alternate No. 1: a. Remove and salvage rock ballast for reinstallation. b. Remove copings, gutter, downspouts, termination bars, wood blocking, if bad, dirt, debris and properly dispose. c. Remove and replace any wood blocking only if in bad condition, review condition with architect and/owner. d. Score the existing membrane layer into a 5'x5' grid pattern in preparation for the new roof assembly. e. Install new EPDM membrane roof system, over new insulation, over existing roof assemblies. The new membrane shall be loose laid and the new insulation shall be mechanically fastened. The existing roof deck is sloped towards (plan) east and metal at Roof 6. Salvaged rock ballast shall be installed over the new roof membrane. f. Install new metal roof edge assemblies at edge of roof conditions. g. Install new pre-finished metal gutter and downspouts on the (plan) east side of roof 4. Alternate No. 2: a. Remove rock ballast and coordinate with owner, a location to dispose of it. b. Remove copings, gutter, downspouts, termination bars, wood blocking, if bad, dirt, debris and properly dispose. c. Remove and replace any wood blocking only if in bad condition, review condition with architect and/owner. d. Score the existing membrane layer into a 5'x5' grid pattern in preparation for the new roof assembly. e. Install new EPDM membrane roof system, over new insulation, over existing roof assemblies. The new membrane shall be fully adhered and the new insulation shall be mechanically fastened. The existing roof deck is sloped towards (plan) east and metal at Roof 6. f. Install new metal roof edge assemblies at edge of roof conditions. g. Install new pre-finished metal gutter and downspouts on the (plan) east side of roof.
