The Barren County Fiscal Court is soliciting sealed proposals from qualified contractors and engineering firms for the widening and improvement of Beechtree Lane to a finished width of 22 feet and length of 0.4 miles, including road base preparation, resurfacing, and associated engineering services. The project aims to improve road safety, traffic flow, and site distance. Proposers should demonstrate experience in road design, construction, and related infrastructure improvements. Scope of Work: 1. Road Widening: Expand existing roadway to a finished width of 20 feet. Add a 1-foot shoulder on each side of the road. Improve Alignment of Curve Road base to be raised by 6 to 8 inches using suitable material at Hwy 249 approximately 200 feet. Base need not be fully level; minor elevation variances are acceptable. Include 2 inches of compacted base material Include 1.5 inches of surface asphalt material Use of thicker asphalt in sections requiring additional support may be proposed. Level and Wedge Existing Roadway 2. Engineering Services: Evaluate and address potential encroachments due to a house located near the proposed road expansion. Assess impact and potential relocation or protection of an existing utility/light pole. Design necessary modifications to improve sight distance and roadway alignment. 3. Drainage and Pipe Work: Replace 3 existing and install one new existing drainage pipe as necessary. Include minor improvements to roadside drainage to ensure proper runoff and prevent erosion.
