Shippensburg University - Franklin Science Center Renovation - Electrical Construction LIQUIDATED DAMAGES = (.4) $2,500.00 per day. Duration: 675 Calendar Days from date of Initial Job Conference There is no Bid Guaranty required for this Project. The Department of General Services Capital Programs and the Bureau of Diversity, Inclusion and Small Business Opportunities (BDISBO) identified this procurement as eligible for the setting of Small Diverse Business (SDB) and/or Veteran Business Enterprise (VBE) participation goals. However, BDISBO did not set SDB and/or VBE participation goals for those procurements that are less than the $600,000 threshold required to set either goal. In addition, there will be no points allocated toward SDB/SB participation for this procurement. This is a significant programmatic change from the SDB and SB Participation program contained in prior Projects issued by Capital Programs. Bidders now must agree to meet the SDB and VBE Participation Goals in full or demonstrate that they have made Good Faith Efforts to meet the Goals. Refer to the Instructions to Bidders section regarding Small Diverse Business and Veteran Business Enterprise Participation for further information. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. 412-56P1, C-412-0056PH1, 2241050, 412-56P1, DGS C-0412-0056 PHASE 001.4 DGS 412-56P1.4 Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania is a regional state-supported institution, founded in 1871 as the Shippensburg State Normal School in a single building (Old Main), and now has over 50 buildings, 2.4 million square feet, and 200 total acres. It is part of the State System of Higher Education of Pennsylvania, which is made up of 14 universities located in various geographic regions throughout the Commonwealth. Franklin Science Center was constructed in 1970 and received a partial renovation in 2002 targeted towards HVAC improvements, electric, and classroom finishes. The building interior is very dated and inconsistent with contemporary pedagogy. This 114,000 GSF building supports Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Psychology Departments, and encompasses teaching and research laboratories, offices, classrooms, circulation, and building support space. It also handles up to 4,602 student visits per week. The renovation includes construction on the ground, first, second, and third floors, plus limited exterior work on the facades, grade, and the roof. The scope includes civil, landscape, structure, architecture, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology, with significant demolition and upgrades to the building systems and laboratories
