Renovation of a municipal facility in Ottawa, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
Replace main entrance doors as the current one is not fire code compliance and it poses health and safety risk. Work of this contract comprises the replacement of four (4) exterior main entrance doors at the Sussex entrance complete with new continuous hinges and hardware. Refer to drawings for scope of services. 1 Heritage Protection Notes: .1 The John G. Diefenbaker Building is a Classified Federal Heritage Building. Care must be taken to ensure that character-defining heritage elements are not damaged during the scope of work. The character-defining heritage elements for this project are the manual push plates, complete with the coat of arms. The contractor is responsible for the careful removal and reinstallation of these elements on the new doors. Adjacent heritage items, such as limestone and slate wall panels, and interior flooring, must also be protected during construction. The contractor must refer to the building's Heritage Character Statement, see Appendix A included in the tender package, and consider the character-defining elements throughout construction. The contractor must advise the BGIS Project Manager and BGIS 4 Heritage Conservation Program of any unforeseen changes or damages during construction. Changes that affect character-defining elements require input from the BGIS Heritage Conservation Program. Any damage must be documented and reported promptly. .5 The contractor must provide prompt documentation, including photos before starting work and after completion. All documentation must be submitted to the BGIS Project Manager and BGIS Heritage Conservation Program to ensure proper records are maintained for future interventions.
