Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; road / highway; and water / sewer project.
Replacement of County Bridge No. G0801 Morton Street Over Cuckels Brook, Bridgewater Township, Somerset County, New Jersey The work to be performed under this contract shall include, but is not limited to the following major items of work: o Installation, maintenance and removal of traffic control devices associated with the vehicular detour proposed for this project o Installation, maintenance and removal of soil erosion and sediment control devices as shown on the plans. o Coordination with utilities including existing utility poles and overhead power, telephone and cable television lines, sewer main, water main and gas main with project limits which shall remain and be protected during construction by contractor. Maintaining the stability of all utility poles to remain throughout construction shall be the responsibility of the contractor. o Removal of existing structure in its entirety including abutments, wingwalls, parapet and footings. o Construction of new pre-cast concrete rigid frame with cast in place footings, wing walls, pylons and steel 4-bar parapets o Construction of approximately 275 feet of roadway, including guide rail and road stripping as shown in the Construction plans. o Other incidental and necessary work shown on the Construction Plans and further described herein. During the bid opening process, the bidders will be announced as will bid amounts. A bid review providing unit prices will not take place at the openings. Instead, this information will be posted, as always to the Purchasing webpage once available. Release of all Plans/Drawings requires receipt of a form of identification from the requesting individual and Company information. [Examples: Company ID/Business Card] All information is subject to verification. Bidder shall submit with the bid a certified check, cashier's check or bid bond in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the total price bid, but not in excess of $20,000.00, payable unconditionally to Somerset County Treasurer, along with a Certificate (Consent of Surety) with Power of Attorney for full amount of bid price from a Surety Company authorized to do business in the State of New Jersey and that said Surety will furnish a Performance and Payment Bond in amounts of 100% of successful bidder's contract. All Bid Addenda will be issued on the County website at www.co.somerset.nj.us, and processed in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A: 11-23(c)(2). All interested respondents should check the website from now through bid opening. It is the sole responsibility of the respondent to be knowledgeable of all addenda related to this procurement. Bidders shall comply with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 10:5-31 and N.J.A.C. 17:27 et seq Clearing Site shall also include the removal and/or resetting of all signs, concrete sign posts, fences and all obstructions, either standing or felled within the limits of construction of the project, as shown on the plans or as directed by the engineer, for which no specific pay item is provided for in the contract. Work also includes removal of pavement reflectors and castings. All trees will be removed under this item. In the performance of the work under this item, the Contractor will be held responsible for any damage to existing construction that is to remain in place. The Contractor shall use extreme care and exercise every precaution necessary to prevent damage or injury thereto. Any damage as a result of the Contractor's operations shall be repaired or replaced by him to the satisfaction of the Engineer at no additional expense to the County. Also included is excavation or, the use of any type of sheeting that is required for the removal of a structure when such sheeting is to remain for the planned new construction that is at the same location of the removal. This work shall include maintenance of adequate drainage flow during all phases of construction. It shall also include the construction of cofferdams or temporary by-pass piping as necessary enabling the construction of footings, wingwalls, culvert, etc. This work shall also include the clearing and restoring of the areas subjected to storm water runoff during construction. All work shall be performed in accordance with the NJDEP Flood Hazard Area Permit approval. This Section describes the requirements for manufacturing, furnishing, and erecting prestressed members, precast reinforced concrete culverts, precast reinforced concrete arch structures, precast reinforced concrete rigid frame structures and precast reinforced concrete bridge railings. The Precast Concrete Manufacturing Plant shall be certified either by the National Precast Concrete Association or by the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute Plant Certification Program. Certification shall list the proper product group(s) and category(ies) for each of the proper products being supplied. Written plant certification shall be submitted to the County with the shop drawings. ESCRIPTION This work shall consist of fabricating, furnishing, assembling, and erecting one bronze date panel, incised with text as directed by the Engineer. MATERIALS The plaque shall be cast in one piece of statuary bronze. Background shall be dark oxidized hard matted surface having a stippled appearance; borders and tops of letters to have a smooth, burnished finish at location as shown on the plan. On Somerset County roads, extruded thermoplastic, as specified in Section 610.03.02, shall be used for long line traffic stripes, traffic marking lines, and traffic markings symbols. The only exception to this will be when the project calls specifically for the installation of tape or preformed symbols. The use of Epoxy traffic stripes, as specified in Section 610.03.01, is limited to concrete bridge decks, as detailed, or locations as maybe called for specifically on the Contract plans.
