Illuminated St Name Sign Replacement A Class A, Contractor's License is required for this work. Work will be done and payments will be made in accordance with provisions more particularly described in the plans and specifications. The scope of work generally includes removing the existing illuminated street name signs and associated components such as conduit, wiring, etc. as well as furnishing and installing the retroreflective street name signs. The contractor shall be responsible for acquiring any necessary permits, traffic control, and disposal of the existing illuminated street name signs. Bids are required for the entire work described herein in accordance with the instructions to bidders. The Engineer's Estimate is $135,100. Bids must be accompanied by a Proposal guarantee amounting to ten (10%) percent of the bid as described in the specifications. Said guarantee shall be forfeited to the City in case the bidder depositing the same does not, within fifteen days after written notice that the contract has been awarded to the Contractor (1) enter into a contract with the City and (2) furnish Performance and Payment Bonds as described in the specifications. The City Council reserves the privilege of rejecting any and all proposals or to waive any irregularities or informalities in any proposals or in the bidding. No bidder may withdraw their proposal for a period of ninety (90) calendar days after the date set for opening of proposals. As a "Public Works" project and pursuant to Section 1773 of the Labor Code, the general prevailing wage rates for San Mateo County shall apply to this contract, as determined by the Director of the California Department of Industrial Relations. Bidders are directed to the Instructions for Bidders for additional contract requirements. The work to be done under this contract includes but is not limited to: o Remove the existing illuminated street name signs and associated components such as conduit, wiring, etc. o Furnish and install the retroreflective street name signs o Coordination with residents. o Temporary traffic control. o Provide Proofs for the Retroreflective Street Name Signs: o A digital copy of the proofs for each street name sign for all locations as shown in the appendices. o The street name signs shall follow the below specifications. A sample street name sign is shown in the appendices and was installed at the Brittan Avenue/ Industrial Road intersection: o White FHWA E Series font o 12" capital letters height o 9" lower case letters height (lower case letters must be 3/4 if the first capital letter) o Green background with white 1" radius border o RSNS: G7 Blade Type o Panel: Aluminum 0.08" THK o Vinyl: 3M 1177 Green on 3M DG3 4090 Sheeting Antigraffiti Overlay Film 3M 1160 o Sign height: 18" tall o Sign width will vary, per street name, but must fit within a 9'-9" mast arm length o Double sided sign o Brackets: 1" Extruded Alum Angle (See appendices for reference.) Prior to procurement of the sign, a digital copy of the proofs for each street name sign as shown in Appendix B shall be submitted to the City for approval as dimensions for width and height may vary based upon field conditions The Contractor shall furnish all materials, labor, tools, equipment, supervision, transportation, handling, storage, traffic control, permits, licenses, and all other incidentals necessary to complete the work successfully.
