Shawnee County is soliciting sealed bids for stripping, repairing, and repainting the wood basketball court flooring at the Stormont Vail Event Center, per the minimum requirements. Scope & Information: Bidders will need to provide a proposal for stripping the existing paint scheme and all existing coatings, repairing several damaged wood boards, and repainting the wood floor to the new schematic, which will be provided at the pre-bid meeting. 1) Court Information a) Basketball court size is roughly 76' wide x 112' long b) Court is removable and comes in 4'x8' pieces 2) Repairing Court a) The successful bidder must inspect the court and make any necessary repairs b) Bidders must have previous experience repairing portable basketball floors c) Only necessary repairs or replacements of the basketball floor affecting the mechanics and/or playability of the floor are to be made d) All replacement parts must be identical to the existing 3) Refinishing Court a) Floor must be sanded to bare wood b) Bare wood must be appropriately prepped to receive sealer, two-tone stains, water-based paints and top coat c) Sealer, stains, paints and top coat must be appropriately and professionally applied d) MFMA Approved Oil-Modified Polyurethane with extremely tough high-build gloss finish 4) Awarded bidder will need to provide a) Provide sample stains b) Digital mock-ups / final drawings including all specifications 5) Project Timeline a) June 2025 date to start work (this depends on event load of the facility). All questions requesting clarification of items/issues discussed at the pre-proposal conference must be submitted in writing via electronically. Proposers should clearly understand that the only official answer or position of Shawnee County will be in writing. Any modification to this Request arising from the pre-proposal conference, as well as answers to written questions shall be made in writing by addendum and will be issued through electronically. Subsequent to the bid opening, all bids shall be thoroughly evaluated and a determination made as to their compliance with applicable specifications. The appropriate County department head shall make this determination. Upon completion of the above determination, an analysis of all bids submitted shall be prepared and formally presented to the Board of County Commissioners for acceptance and approval of the lowest and/or best bid. The Board of County Commissioners reserves the right to accept or reject any and/or all bids and to waive any irregularities or informalities therein.
