Mason Hall - 1st Floor Business Lab The Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business is seeking qualifications from Architecture/Engineering teams to complete the design of a prominent active learning Business Lab for construction on the ground level of Mason Hall (0252). The Business Lab classroom is intended to create a new focal point within Mason Hall, implementing innovative technologies that promote collaboration. The Business Lab will be adjacent to the Rohr Cafe, providing views into the lab. The current construction budget is estimated, based on a study completed to a schematic level which will be shared with the shortlisted firms. The project will have three primary components; a new seating area to serve the existing Rohr Cafe, a 50+ seat active learning classroom, and a computer lab dedicated to the use of 20+ Bloomberg Terminals. The approximately 5,400 SF project area for the new Business Lab is currently occupied by existing offices/flex rooms, a conference room, cafe seating, and circulation, requiring an evaluation and reconfiguration of building systems. The project area also includes an obsolete steel staircase to the second level which is to be removed as part of the project, increasing usable square footage. The ideal team will have a proven record of schedule and budget management for a reliable general contracting bid solicitation. Renovation of the seating area serving the cafe (shown below in orange) will be completed as Phase 1, in order to resume operation with minimal delay. The cafe is to be out of service during the summer semester, creating an opportunity for work to begin without disruption. A portion of the offices on the first floor will remain active, requiring access and functionality to be maintained.
