The total amount for the purchase, planning, design, fabrication, and installation for the public art shall not exceed the dollar amount above. Included in the budget should be infrastructure components, materials, and equipment to complete the installation. The distribution of the amount will be determined by the type of art and the cost of the work submitted. The Thomas M. Smith Athletic Center is in North Buffalo at Shoshone Park. It is a new 34,500 square foot indoor athletic facility that includes indoor turf fields for various sports. The facility has a 25,500 square foot dividable turf playfield with markings for multiple sports. The large playfield has a clear space that is 116' x 216' and has 32' structure height creating an ideal indoor sports practice facility. The Center also includes a smaller 3,000 square foot turf playfield. Other amenities include a waiting area, restrooms, administrative office, and a community meeting room. The building is constructed with a long span steel frame and is clad in insulated metal panels. Construction is expected to be completed in Spring 2025. The successful artwork proposal selected for this project will be an installation or mural that: 1. Is culturally appropriate. 2. Represents the character of the park and the neighborhood surrounding the park 3. Resistant to the outdoor elements.
