The Phase 1 Water System Improvements, South 32nd Street Water Main Replacement project includes all materials, equipment, transportation, and labor needed to complete the improvements as follows: The Work generally consists of installation of approximately 1,700 LF of new 16-in. water main in the right-of-way of S 32nd Street from 8th Ave S to 5th Ave. S. The project includes of three (3) trenchless crossings on 32nd St S at 8th Ave S, on 32nd St at the water tower driveway, and at 5th Street S. The project also includes associated connections with existing water main, storm sewer, paving, seeding, erosion control and other incidental work as described in the plans and specifications. Doc Note - Plans and Bidding Documents will be available starting December 10th, 2024. Paper copies of the Contract Documents are available from McClure Engineering Company, 705 First Avenue North, FortDodge, Iowa 50501, upon request. The request shall be accompanied by a certified check (made payable to McClure Engineering Company) in the amount of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($150.00) for 11 by 17-inch Plans and Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($250.00) for 24 by 36-inch Plans. Payment will be refunded if the Plans and Documents are 1) returned within fourteen (14) days after the Award of the Project and 2) the Plans and Documents are in a reusable condition. If they are not returned, or returned past the deadline, or are not in a reusable condition as judged by the Engineer, the deposit shall be forfeited. Each Bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful Bidder will enter into a Contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of Contract a corporate Surety Bond, in a form acceptable to the City of FortDodge, for the faithful performance of the Contract, in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the Contract. The Bidder's security shall be in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the total bid amount, as fixed in the Instructions to Bidders, and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a Bid Bond on the form provided in the Contract Documents with corporate Surety satisfactory to the City of FortDodge. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Each successful Bidder will be required to furnish a corporate Surety Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its Contract price. Said Bond shall be issued by a responsible Surety approved by the City of FortDodge and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City of FortDodge from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the Contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of four (4) years from and after acceptance of the Contract. All work on South 32nd Street will be substantially complete by September 30th, 2025, and all other work shall be finally completed in its entirety with seeding by November 30th, 2025. Liquidated damages in the amount of Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250) will be assessed for each calendar day after the specified completion dates that the work remains incomplete. The City of FortDodge does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
