PROJECT DESCRIPTION The City of West Jordan is working to develop and present a comprehensive program document as part of the ZAP (Zoo, Arts, and Parks) process to secure grant funding for the construction of a new Recreation Center on the west side of the city. BACKGROUND The City has had a long-term vision of constructing another recreation center on the west side of West Jordan City. Building a recreation center is often driven by a desire to enhance the quality of life for a community by providing a dedicated space for physical activities, social interaction, and community events. The idea typically stems from recognizing a need for accessible, safe, and inclusive spaces where people of all ages can engage in various recreational, fitness, and wellness programs. PROJECT OBJECTIVES AND SCHEDULE It is anticipated that an award and resulting contract will be finalized in late January 2025. Following the approval and execution of a contract, city staff will work with the architect to develop a detailed schematic floor plan, elevation schemes, and projected budget. This work is required to be completed by August 1, 2025.
