The NEC Umiujaq Research Station Project is intended to provide researchers with a building for research, accommodation and training in this northern village on the east shore of Hudson Bay. The second level of the building will be two stories high and will be at the airport road, which is a raised embankment. In the context of global warming in Nunavik, The first floor of the building will be located below the road and the entire building will rest on 3 piles that are sunk to the rock to avoid the use of granular materials and limit the impact of thawing permafrost on the building.
