The Project will consist of all the requirements required for rodent abatement and control services, including such locations as sewers, alleys, rights of way, creeks and streams, vacant and abandoned buildings, and on a as needed basis for the City's Department of Code Administration. The Contractor shall accomplish all work, including such additional, extra and incidental work that may be considered necessary by the City, to complete the Project, as defined herein, in a satisfactory and acceptable manner The City of Alexandria, Virginia (City) is an urban community of 15.75 square miles with a Population of approximately 159,647. With its stable residential neighborhoods, its historic districts, and its proximity to Washington, D.C., the City continues to attract new residents, tourists, and businesses. The purpose of this solicitation is to establish a Contract for rodent abatement and control services for the City by an experienced and qualified company that will supply all materials, labor, supervision, tools, equipment, and insurance necessary to provide rodent abatement and control services in the City including such locations as sewers, alleys, and rights of way, creeks and streams, vacant and abandoned buildings and on an as needed basis for the City's Department of Code Administration (Code Administration). Contract services shall be performed in accordance with the specifications, general clauses, and terms and conditions outlined herein. The Code Administration is responsible for the enforcement, control, and abatement of rodent-related problems in the City. Code Administration has aggressively attacked the rodent problem by providing for the abatement of nuisance rodents in the sewer system, alleys, and elsewhere, and by educating citizens on the health and safety issues involved with potential rodent harborage. To facilitate the performance of these duties, the City contracts with a professional pest control company to perform daily, bi-monthly, and monthly rodent control services and provide expert technical guidance. The current sewer baiting Contractor inspects between fifty-five (55) to seventy-five (75) sewers daily and 1100 to 1500 sewers a month, baiting as necessary. The current Contractor services the designated City alleys and right of way twice a month. The Contractor is expected to bait the identified alleys and rights of way as needed determined by the Contractor and/or the City COTR; however, not less than once per month. The City expects the successful Contractor, if necessary, will maintain these levels of activity of no less than seventy-five (75) sewers daily for successful performance of the Contract. Question Deadline 12/31/2024 City Issues Responses to Vendor Questions via Amendment 1/14/2025 The Contractor shall begin performance within 10 calendar days and complete it within N/A calendar days after receiving. The Proposer agrees to furnish any required performance and payment bonds. The City reserves the right to modify any timeframe or deadline in the RFP by issuing a written amendment.
