Renovation of a transportation facility in Homewood, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility.
Amtrak is currently accepting Letters of Interest for Construction Services in support of our Homewood Station Basement Door Upgrades project in Homewood, IL. All questions regarding this opportunity should be directed to the Contracting Official identified in this advertisement only. General Scope: -Establish work zone areas with safety cones, markers, other visual markers. -Take before/after pictures -All removed materials shall be hauled away off-site and disposed appropriately. -Clean up work area each day and after completion. -Test and verify operations prior to de-mobilization. -Operation and maintenance, care instructions, manuals, and warranty information shall be surrendered to Amtrak prior to project closeout. -Workmanship warranty shall be no less than one (1) year. -Provide submittals to Amtrak for review and approval. -Participate in project status calls via Microsoft Teams held with frequency determined by proximity to start of physical work, and as needed. Scope of Work Contractor shall remove and replace one (1) exterior basement door conforming to Amtrak station design guide standards. Contractor shall be responsible to comply with Amtrak design standards as attached in Appendix A. Contractor shall ensure doors are operable in any weather condition, i.e. ensuring proper operation with expected contraction/expansion due to temperature (heat/cold) and or humidity. Basement Door: Remove and replace door and frame. Prep clean area and surface exposed after removal to receive new frame and door that shall match in brown color. New door and frame shall be primed and powder-coated (off-site) prior to installation. A rust-proof coating shall be applied to the new door and frame. Extraordinary care shall be exercised so to not damage or displace existing stucco exterior or interior brick work and plaster. Contractor shall restore transom above door frame, resecure to building structure, seal transom from moisture, and encapsulate transom with new protective coatings to match existing color. Approach transom work with assumption of presence of hazardous materials. Contractor is responsible for verifying conditions prior to the commencement of any physical work. Prep new frame and door to accommodate outward (swing out to sidewalk) left-hand swing in the same manner of the existing door. New door shall accommodate new door hardware as specified in Appendix B. A separate deadbolt shall be installed above the new door hardware at standard height and to be operated by key on the exterior, thumb turn on the interior. All new hardware shall be in a brushed bronze finish. New hardware and deadbolt shall include ten (10) keys to be surrendered to Amtrak station personnel upon completion, properly labeled on two (2) separate key rings. Operation manual and care instructions, in paper format, shall also be surrendered to Amtrak station personnel on site. Contractor shall make evaluation of new door and frame to accommodate a door closer. If appropriate, furnish and install door closer to new door and frame. Contractor shall make evaluation to install a threshold plate at bottom of door. Contractor shall make appropriate adjustments at surface to accommodate a new threshold plate as necessary. Contractor shall take extraordinary care to not disturb existing brick pavers. Door shall include a commercial, heavy-duty sweep. Door and frame shall include new weatherstripping.
