Maine Township Road District is accepting bids for the following project: 2025 Storm Sewer Lining The Highway Commissioner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to accept any proposal in its entirety or part thereof if in the judgment of the Highway Commissioner the best interests of the Township will be promoted thereby. All bids shall be accompanied by a bid bond, certified check or cashier's check in the amount of 10% of the bid. All bidders MUST be pre-qualified by the Illinois Department of Transportation for road construction and MUST meet the Illinois Department of Transportation's requirements for bonding and insurance (documentation proving both of these items must be included with the bid or the bidder will be disqualified) and MUST be in compliance with the Prevailing Wage Act. For more information contact Ted Ward, Engineer at (847) 722-4043. GENERAL CONDITIONS 1. The bidder shall submit his proposal on the form furnished by the Township Highway Commissioner. 2. The proposal shall be executed properly and the bidder shall indicate in figures, a unit price for each of the separate items called or in the proposal, he shall show the products of the respective quantities and unit prices in the column provided for that purpose, and the gross sum shown in the place indicated in the proposal shall be the summation of said products. All writing shall be with ink or typewriter, except the signature of the bidder shall always be written with ink. 3. The Township Highway Commissioner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, and to accept any proposal in its entirety of part thereof if in the judgement of the Township Highway Commissioner the best interests of the Township will be promoted thereby. 4. The successful bidder shall not be liable for any delays in manufacturing, shipping or delivery of materials caused by fire, strikes, lockouts, differences with workmen, accidents, war, insurrection, etc., or any other reason over which the bidder has no control. 5. If the successful bidder fails or refuses to furnish any part or all of the materials of work called for in the contract, the Township Highway Commissioner reserves the right to secure such materials or work in the open market and to charge the difference in cost to the successful bidder. SPECIFICATIONS The successful bidder shall meet the requirements of the most current issue of the State of Illinois "STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Cleaning sewers shall include high pressure jetting, root cutting, bucketing and any other actions necessary to remove all obstructions impeding flows. This work is to be completed prior to installing the CIPP lining system. 1. Scope of Work a) The sanitary sewer cleaning shall be completed in accordance with this document and the SPECIFICATION FOR SEWER LINE CLEANING (As Provided by NASSCO, latest addition). 2. Protection: a) Cleaning Precautions: Precautions shall be taken to ensure that the water pressure created does not damage or cause flooding of private property being served by the sewer. 3. Work on Private Property or in Rights of Ways: a) Permission to work on private property or obtaining rights-of-way, if required, will be secured by the CONTRACTOR. The CONTRACTOR shall protect from damage all property including land, trees, shrubs, fences, and other existing improvements and replace in kind all those damaged as a result of CONTRACTOR'S operations. b) CONTRACTOR to pay all claims for property damage and trespass/occupation for damage outside the immediate work area or rights-of-way, as designated by Maine Township. 4. Traffic Control: a) The CONTRACTOR shall install all necessary signage for work areas and furnish all necessary personnel for traffic control in order to maintain traffic flow in a safe manner around work areas as specified in the Illinois Department of Transportation bulletins and publications. The majority of manholes are located either adjacent to the road, within the roadway pavement or within easement. 5. Water: a) The Village of Glenview provides water service along Harrison Street. CONTRACTOR may contact the Village of Glenview Public Works to inquire whether a hydrant water meter may be obtained for water use. Water used for jet rodding or other activities shall be included within the contract price. 6. General: a) Sewer cleaning shall be performed with hydraulically propelled or mechanically operated cleaning equipment. Selection of equipment shall be based on field conditions such as access to manholes, type and quantity of debris to be removed, size of sewer line, depth of flow, etc. 7. Intent: a) The intent of the sewer cleaning is to remove foreign materials from the lines as required for the televising and sewer rehabilitation activities
