Located at 5150 Stern Drive, the proposed subdivision occupies about 22 acres in southern Las Cruces. “Heather Hills will basically have key frontage from, or access to most of the lots from Pebble Brook Drive which is boarded by Silverado Loop on the north, ultimately tying into Rocky Road on the south,” said Vincent Banegas, Deputy Director at the City of Las Cruces during the Feb. 19 Development Review Committee meeting. The new code also allows homeowners to build accessory dwelling units on their lots, increasing the available housing supply and adding value to the property investment. One individual voiced concern about traffic control and a lack of movement on a promised park at the March 25 meeting. Adam Ochoa, planner for the City of Las Cruces, clarified to the commission’s satisfaction that the park was part of another subdivision, nearby the proposed Heather Hills project. The item passed unanimously. The plat was submitted by Libbin Underwood Engineering on behalf of John Curry, the property owner. The construction timeline and expected lot cost is unknown. ___________________________________ The North Central New Mexico Economic Development District (NCNMEDD) is seeking multiple New Mexico contractors with a GB-98 or GB-2 license to improve the homes of older adults age 60+ and to rehabilitate and/or develop workforce housing units. Contractor/s must be licensed New Mexico businesses in good standing with employee protections such as workers compensation insurance. Contractor/s must agree to list NCNMEDD as an additional insured. Contractors selected through this RFP will be placed on an on-call list with NCNMEDD. When Senior Home Repair or Workforce Housing projects are initiated in the Contractor's service area, NCNMEDD will notify all on-call contractors in the service area of the specific project or projects. NCNMEDD may select one or more contractors to complete the specific project/s based on cost, availability, and/or construction experience. NCNMEDD will issue contracts to on-call contractors the first time the contractor is selected for a project. Additional projects will be incorporated into the contract by work order.
