Site work and new construction of a fire / police facility in Richmond, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 12,884-square-foot fire / police facility; and for site work for a fire / police facility.
This project includes the purchase of approximately five and a half acres of land and the construction of a new Firehouse #1. The facility will have a footprint of a 12,884 square foot building and 1,200 square feet of mezzanine. The proposed firehouse will be designed to meet current operational requirements and accommodate firefighting apparatus. The project includes private gender-neutral restrooms and individual bunkrooms, ideally located in close proximity to the day room. Other features of this firehouse include an area designated for training/conferences, a day room, 3 administrative offices, outdoor storage, and a fitness room. Four drive-through bays will house an engine, ladder truck, Technical Rescue Team tractor trailer, and both ALS and BLS units. The current site is not conducive to future expansion due to the presence of a stream and the topography of the land SIA-2024-101813 Henrico County Division of Fire: The Department of Planning has received a request from the Division of Fire to initiate a Substantially in Accord study for a proposed fire station and training facility. The existing zoning is M-1C Light Industrial (Conditional) and C-1 Conservation District. The 2026 Comprehensive Plan recommends Light Industry and Environmental Protection Area. The site is in the Airport Safety Overlay District and a portion is in the Enterprise Zone. Project is included in the FY25-34 Capital Improvement Plan.
