Site work and renovation of a mixed-use development in Camden, New Jersey. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for the renovation of a municipal facility.
The work to be completed under Contract No. BF-63-2024, Benjamin Franklin Bridge Masonry Rehabilitation, includes the renovation of the masonry elements of the bridge; anchorages, approach walls, piers, in Philadelphia and Camden, on both sides of the Delaware River, the Philadelphia Plaza and the DRPA Administration Building. Items to be addressed include cracked granite blocks, missing/deteriorated mortar joints, general soiling, efflorescence and staining of the granite facades of the anchorages, approach span piers, and abutment span walls. Major items of work include masonry cleaning, repointing, and repairs. The work includes the Philadelphia Plaza, the area located between Race and Vine from 5th to 6th Streets on the Philadelphia side of the bridge. The work also includes the Administration Building, the three-story limestone with granite base building located next to the BFB toll plaza on the Camden side. The work in this project does not include any work on the main tower piers located in the Delaware River. The scope of the work as indicated in the contract documents shall include but is not limited to the following: 1. Rake out and repoint all mortar joints. 2. Rake out and spot repoint joints on the DRPA - Administration Building. 3. Repair stonework, including replacing existing stone with new stone, removal and resetting of existing stone, tooling of stone, installation of composite patch material, installation of dutchman and installation of all pins. 4. Install backer rod and sealant 5. Remove and prepare, prime and gild cast iron grilles on Anchorages 6. Injection grouting of piers. 7. Clean all stone work after repairs and repointing have been completed and cured. 8. Remove and reset stone steps on the north side of the DRPA Administration Building.
