Demolition and site work for a mixed-use development in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the demolition of a parking garage; for site work for a parking garage; warehouse / distribution facility; and warehouse / distribution facility.
Building Demolition and Contaminated Soil Excavation 640 South Center Street For the construction of Building Demolition and Contaminated Soil Excavation 640 South Center Street The work for which bids are asked includes: the demolition of one approximately 15,000 square foot building, one-story, slab-on-grade, former Department of Public Works warehouse and garage. The site will be restored to grade with a compacted, gravel surface. An asbestos and lead based paint inspection was completed for the site in 2023 and no asbestos containing materials were identified within the structure proposed for demolition. The building exterior wall peach painted surface was determined to be lead containing, as well as the interior attic wall. The pre-demolition report is available as part of the Bidding Documents. Bids are also asked to include unit rates for the excavation, loading, hauling, landfill disposal (at Glacier Ridge Landfill in Horicon, WI), and backfilling of approximately 300 cubic yards of petroleum contaminated soil that has been identified in the vicinity of the Southeast corner of the building. A standard conversion rate of 1.4 tons per cubic yard should be used in estimates that require weight instead of volume. The Consulting Engineer will provide a soil profile for the landfill, soil screening services during the excavation in order to identify and segregate contaminated soils and will provide shipping manifests for the transportation of the contaminated soils. The quantity of contaminated material may be greater than the original estimate if additional contamination is identified during excavation activities. No proposal will be accepted unless accompanied by a certified check or bid bond equal to at least 5% of the amount bid, payable to the Owner as a guarantee that, if the bid is accepted, the bidder will execute and file the proper contract and bond within 15 days after the award of the contract. The certified check or bid bond will be returned to the bidder as soon as the contract is signed, and if after 15 days the bidder shall fail to do so, the certified check or bid bond shall be forfeited to the Owner as liquidated damages. No bidder may withdraw their bid within 60 days after the actual date of the opening thereof. The minimum wages to be paid on the project shall be in accordance with the wage rate scale established by local wage rates. Owner reserves the right to waive any informalities or to reject any or all bids.
