The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) is requesting proposals from qualified consultants to develop a hydraulic model and regulatory floodplain mapping of the Fall River to be used in the regulatory review process. The Fall River, located in eastern Ontario, will be modelled starting at the outflow from Sharbot Lake, just upstream of the Guigue Road bridge (approximately 44 46'29.6"N, 76 38'25.2"W) and ending at the confluence with the Mississippi River, approximately 3 km east of the Village of Fallbrook (approximately 44 58'29.7"N, 76 21'34.1"W). This reach has a length of approximately 45.26 km and a drainage area of 486 km2. Only a 31.63 km long section of this reach will need to be mapped for regulatory purposes. This section extends from just upstream from Maberly (approximately 44 50'06.3"N, 76 32'58.4"W) to the confluence with the Mississippi River (approximately 44 58'29.7"N, 76 21'34.1"W). There are 14 water crossing structures and a map of the study area is provided for reference below. The regulatory flood hazard standard for the Fall River is the regional flood produced by the 100-year flood event. As required within the funding agreement, the 1D hydraulic model, modelling report, and floodplain mapping shall conform to the technical requirements outlined by FHIMP, which are provide in detail in the RFP document. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
