Paving Related Road Reclamation The City of Danbury is an equal opportunity and affirmative action purchaser, and bids from all vendors, including those from enterprises owned by minorities and women, are encouraged. The City of Danbury reserves the right to accept or reject any or all Bids, and unless specified otherwise, to award the contract within thirty working days to the Bidder deemed to be for the best interest of the City of Danbury. The work to be done shall consist of the reclaiming, rough and final grading operations in preparation for bituminous asphalt road or parking lot paving, in accordance with Connecticut Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Roads, Bridges and Incidental Construction, Form 816, latest revision, all related sections. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, tools, supplies, and other facilities and means necessary or proper perform operations as described, and to include all handwork as necessary for the completion of reclaiming, and all related work. The contractor is responsible for setting the rough and final grading after reclaiming, so the roadway grades will shed storm water. Following reclaiming, the city will provide and deliver additional base materials if necessary. Raised structures must be painted in fluorescent orange paint following all reclaiming operations. A water truck must be used as necessary to control dust following reclaiming until paving base course is complete. The contractor must provide proper base compaction. Compaction is critical elements to road life. The contractor will be required to provide proof of compliance with Code of Federal Regulations (OSHA) related to the work to be performed, for each employee on the jobsite. It will be the contractor's responsibility to assure that OSHA compliance is maintained by the contractor employees for the duration of the contract. The basis for award of this contract will be comparing the prices provided by the contractor in all sections listed, to the proposed work to be performed in the coming paving season then selecting the lowest qualified bidder. Payment will only be made on unit price basis for reclamation operations and accepted in place, at the prescribed final grade and square unit incorporated within accordance to the specifications and represented by daily reports signed by the engineer's field representative stating the work was completed within the areas and grade prescribed by the engineer. Payment will not be made to the Contractor without the aforesaid endorsed reports from the field engineer or his representative. PAYMENT WILL BE MADE UPON COMPLETION OF EACH PROJECT. Request for interpretation of any portion of the bid may be made by telephone to the Purchasing Agent at 203-797-4571. All replies will be given verbally and a copy of any such inquiry and advice (if deemed vital to the bid by the Purchasing Agent) will be made available to each prospective bidder in the form of an addendum. Bidder should check the City's website for addendums/updates 48 hours prior to the bid opening
