Response Format Electronic License Requirements "A-General Engineering Contractor" and "C-10 Electrical Contractor" Question Deadline 02/06/2025 at 10:00 AM PT Online Q&A Yes The City of Carson is soliciting proposals from qualified utility undergrounding contractor(s) (UUC) to provide Utility Undergrounding and Excavation Construction services. The purpose of this RFP is to provide qualified firms with sufficient information to prepare and submit responses for consideration by the City's Information Technology and Security Department related to the As-Needed Utility Undergrounding and Excavation Construction services. The City of Carson currently has approximately 1,000 linear feet of underground fiber optic cabling throughout the City with plans for scheduled maintenance, emergency maintenance, reroute, and expand the network, incrementally in small phases to buildings and structures within the City due to construction projects in the Public Right-of-Way, on City property, and Private Property Developments impacting the existing network. The City intends to coordinate the construction schedule and enhance project management through integration of network construction phases with the City's major construction projects, if and when the City determines such incremental construction for maintenance, replacement, and alternative fiber spans are necessary. The primary objective for the Utility Undergrounding and Excavation Construction is to contract with a UCC to serve as an on-call vendor, to provide work on an as-needed basis, for both scheduled and emergency maintenance on the City's fiber network. The City will utilize the Agreement to establish scheduled and emergency maintenance standard operating procedures with the vendor and allocate a budget to be determined by the City, for estimated work throughout the term of the Agreement. Therefore, there are no guarantees of work by the City during the term of the Agreement. No work will be completed unless and only to the extent directed by the City. The City has required emergency maintenance approximately on five (5) occasions within the past 12-month period, and as such is interested in establishing a vendor to complete such work on an incremental and as-needed basis through use of a UCC at reasonable construction duration times according to complexity of work involved, at a competitive rate, for work product in accordance with industry standards. The Fictional Construction Job Design represents an average scope of work that is anticipated to be required for any requests for work. However, actual phases and scopes of work could vary from the average scope of work represented in the Fictional Construction Job Design. The City seeks an exemplary Utility and Undergrounding and Excavation Contractor that represents all necessary disciplines and has the knowledge, utility construction experience within the City of Carson, and qualifications to provide quality utility undergrounding and excavation construction work according to the City's Fiber Optic Network Strategic Project Plan.
