Renovation of a municipal facility in Shelby, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 13,167-square-foot, two-story above grade municipal facility.
Scope. This project consists of Council Chamber Renovations for the City of Shelby. Included in this project is window and door replacement. Only a portion of the building will be renovated as delineated in the drawings. Most of the windows and several of the exterior doors will be replaced and indicated in the drawings. Location of Site: The site is located at 300 S. Washington St., Shelby, NC 28150. A single bid will be received including all work under the General Contract. The General Contractor's Base Bid shall include all labor, materials, supplies, and equipment necessary to complete the work in its entirety including General Construction, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical. Bid Security: Each Bid shall be accompanied by a cash deposit, a certified check drawn on some bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, or a Bid Bond executed by a Surety Company licensed under the laws of N.C. to execute such bonds. The amount of such bid security shall be equal to 5% of the bid. An AIA Performance and Payment Bond will be required in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Price. Bond shall be delivered to the Architect within ten (10) days after the notice of acceptance of Proposal. FORM OF PERFORMANCE BOND for this project will be AIA Document A311. Bidders shall be required to begin work upon receipt of Notice to Proceed, and to complete the work in 180 calendar days. All work must be completed within the time indicated in SECTION 01 32 13 - SCHEDULES AND REPORTS. The Contractor shall pay the Owner as fixed, agreed, and liquidated damages for each calendar day of delay beyond the completion date stated, until the work is completed, the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500) per day. This time does not include days lost to inclement weather beyond normal amounts of such weather as recorded by the National Weather Service. Requests for delays due to inclement weather shall be submitted with documentation each month with the pay application or they will not be considered. No requests for time extensions will be granted for any reason until an approved schedule for the entire project which clearly identifies the critical path has been submitted and signed off by all prime subcontractors and the architect. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
