The TPS New Central Kitchen project will include multi-phased, multi-year design and construction work at the sites of the Districts existing Operations and Maintenance (O&M) facility located at 3223 S. Union Ave and the Districts existing Purchasing and Warehouse (P&W) facility located at 3221 S. Union Ave in Tacoma. Phased work will include, but is not limited to, design/construction activities related to renovations at the existing, circa 1940, O&M building to accommodate relocation of staff from the P&W building, demolition of the existing, circa 1946 P&W building, and construction of the New Central Kitchen building and retrofit of kitchens at school facilities across the District to provide new kitchen equipment in support of the centralized kitchen and food services program. This project will utilize the Progressive Design/Build delivery method. Firms with previous design/build experience or experience using a similar alternative construction delivery format are encouraged to apply. During the project, the Design/Builder will receive direction from designated representatives in the Tacoma Public Schools (TPS) Planning & Construction Office and will work collaboratively as a member of a team to achieve project objectives. In addition to staff from the TPS Planning and Construction Office, the TPS team may include representatives from other District departments, the Design/Build Consultant (Parametrix) and other TPS consultants.
