Town Common Grading & Drainage Project The Town of Hinesburg is developing a Town Common on municipally-owned land, behind the police station. The goal is to transform an underutilized grass lawn into a functional and thoughtful Town Common that will serve as a central community gathering place for all Town residents. The master plan will be implemented over the next 5-6 years. Planned elements include an open-air pavilion, natural playground, walking paths, entryways, benches and other seating, and substantial tree planting Scope of Work Regrading and drainage per the engineering plans and specifications: Placing substantial fill and topsoil as specified. Grading the site per the proposed contours to ensure drainage from east to west. Creation of low berms suitable for planting. Install a grass swale and underdrain pipe on the west side of the site. A yard drain and connecting pipe to an existing catch basin in the neighborhood stormwater system. Two drain pipes in the northeast corner leading to a micro raingarden. One drain pipe in the southwest corner connecting a raingarden to an existing yard drain Final permitting for the first phase of the project is wrapping up - i.e., Town-level site plan approval and State stormwater permitting.
