Site work, asbestos abatement and renovation of an educational facility in Amherst, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; and for asbestos abatement for a educational facility.
The project consists of the removal of an existing heat pump condensing unit and refrigerant piping serving a makeup air unit that provides air to a laundry room. In addition, a controls integration of the laundry exhaust fans, ductless split units, fin tube radiators and makeup air units in six buildings at the University at Buffalo Ellicott Dorm Complex will allow the existing building management system to prevent simultaneous heating and cooling as well as correct temperature control issues. Due to the age of the ACCU and the multitude of compressor failures, the campus has requested a different type of unit to serve the air handler in Wilkeson Quad. This unit would replace the ACCU with a new heat pump style chiller. The chiller will provide heating and cooling to new coils located in the existing makeup air unit (MAU-1). The refrigerant lines and coils would be removed to make room for the hot water and chilled water lines and coils, filled with 35% propylene glycol. To circulate the fluids, a small pump, expansion tank, air separator and glycol fill station are re-quired for each service. The air-cooled heat pump style chiller selected is a Water Furnace brand. Wilkeson, will also have control-related upgrades. These include integrating each of the Heat-pump Chiller, exhaust fans, VRF, MAU, FTR, and ERV's and associated controls into the existing building management system. In addition, the existing wall mounted thermostats will be replaced with temperature sensors so that staff and students cannot make adjustments without access to the building management system. For Fargo, Richmond, Spaulding and Evans, the following will be bid as an Alternate: These include integrating each of the exhaust fans, VRF, MAU, FTR, and ERV's and associated controls into the existing building management system. This will allow better control of the makeup air unit so that it does not short cycle due to rapid changes in room pressure if doors are opened and closed. In addition, the existing wall mounted thermostats will be replaced with temperature sensors so that staff and students cannot make adjustments without access to the building management system.
