Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a mixed-use development in Graniteville, South Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; for the demolition of a fitness / recreation center; for the construction of a 5,600-square-foot fitness / recreation center; and fitness / recreation center.

Aiken County is requesting Sealed Bids for the construction of the new recreation center located at 917 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. This project will involve the installation of various civil components including grading, paving (asphalt and concrete), stormwater systems, sanitary sewer systems, firewater and potable water systems natural gas systems, site electrical and lighting, fencing and various playground and outside recreation amenities. This project will also include the demolition of existing structures and the construction of a new recreation center building (approx. 5,600 +/- sf). All construction activities will be required to take place while the current recreation facility continues operations. Specific area closures and demolition to be determined at a later date between the Aiken County Recreation Department, Aiken County Engineering and the successful bidder. Any question concerning the bid should be directed to procurement@aikencountysc.gov. Conditions of Work: The Contractor must have informed himself fully of the conditions relating to the construction of this project and the employment of labor thereon, to have inspected the site, and to have read and become familiar with all the bid documents, contract documents, and plans/sketches. Failure or omission to do so will not relieve a successful bidder of his obligation to furnish all material, equipment, and labor necessary to carry out the provisions of his contract. Insofar as possible, the Contractor, in carrying out his work, must employ such methods and/or means as will not cause any interruption of or interference with the work of other contractors. Licenses & Permits: The Contractor is to obtain any licenses or permits required to perform this work at no additional expense to the Owner. Time of Completion: The time of completion is (365) calendar days, and availability of all items must be confirmed prior to commencing work. Liquidated damages are five hundred ($500.00) dollars per calendar day. Written requests for additional time caused by unforeseen delays will be considered only if submitted in writing within ten (10) calendar days of event causing the delay. The work must commence on or before a date to be specified in a written "Notice to Proceed" from the Owner, and the project fully complete within the consecutive days thereafter, excluding major holidays. Security for Faithful Performance: For those contracts more than $50,000.00 in value, a Performance Bond of 100% of Bid and a Payment Bond for 100% of Bid shall be required. The Owner shall retain and hold ten (10) percent from each pay request until all work has been completed and approved by the County Engineer, and a Waiver of Lien submitted stating that all vendors have been paid for materials, labor, and supplies.
