Downtown Atlanta is poised for a major revival, with mixed-use projects such as Centennial Yards, South Downtown and 2 Peachtree aimed at bringing more people to the city's core. The project is included in the Decatur Town Center Plan 2.0 approved by local officials in 2023. There will also be a dinner session at 4:30 p.m., an executive session at 5 p.m. and two work sessions at 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. The work sessions will focus on the Decatur Land Trust annual report, Season of Giving, and MLK Jr. Service Day reports. During the regular meeting, the city commission will consider approving an agreement with JHC Corporation for about $7 million to construct the improvements. The city commission will also consider setting a project budget of $8.5 million for the Square renovation, and approving an agreement with Ascension Program Management for $150,000 for owner’s representative services, according to the agenda.
