Boiler Replacement Cook Hill Elementary School The Town is seeking a contractor to remove existing cast iron hot water boilers & controls and install (2) new hot water boilers, oil fired burners & controls at Cook Hill Elementary School located at 57 Hall Road, Wallingford, CT 06492. Contact Information Glen Masewicz, Buyer; 203-294-2115 Question Deadline 02/13/2025 at 5:00 PM ET Questions concerning the work requirements of this bid are to be submitted through the Purchasing Portal Demolition & Disposal: 1. Remove and dispose of (2) existing HB Smith 12 section series 450 mills cast iron boilers, burners, piping and fire box. 2. Remove and dispose of the existing black iron breeching & ID fans between boilers and existing masonry chimney. 3. Remove & dispose of the existing oil transfer pump set. 4. The existing Bock water heater shall not be removed. 5. The existing hot water pumps shall be removed. 6. The existing (3) way valves shall not be removed. 7. The existing pneumatic by-pass valves shall not be removed. 8. The existing duplex fuel pumps will be removed and retained by Wallingford Public Schools.New Equipment & Piping Installations: 1. Furnish and install (2) new Smith 28RTS-HE-W-10 or accepted equal oil fired, hot water boilers. Boilers shall be furnished knocked down and assembled on new 5 1/2 " housekeeping pads. Boilers shall be furnished with all new hot water operating controls, relief valves, and (1) probe type LWCO MR. A Power Flame straight oil fired burner shall be furnished with a remote mounted control panel. Panel location to be coordinated with owner. UL Listed controls, CSD-1 code compliance, full modulation burner 208-3-60 power supply with 120-4-60 control transformer. Blower driven fuel oil pump set, 10,000 volt ignition transformer, BACnet communication interface. 2. Concrete housekeeping pads to be doweled to existing floor and wire reinforced. 3. Pipe new boilers to existing hot water headers. Piping between pumps & existing header shall be black, properly sized. Isolation valves shall be provided on all boiler pipe runs. Boilers shall be piped into the existing hot water piping system. 4. A new Metal-Fab model "IPIC-1" or accepted equal all fuel boiler breeching between the (2) new boilers and existing masonry chimney shall be furnished & installed. The existing chimney shall be cleaned of all soot. The new breeching shall be fabricated out of 304 stainless steel inner and aluminized outer with 1" of ceramic wool insulation between. Each 14"0 boiler vent connector shall enter the common 20"0 breeching through a 45tee. The common breeching shall include (1) 20"0 barometric damper. The existing masonry chimney shall have a new 20"0 ID single wall 316 stainless steel Metal-Fab model "PSW" or accepted equal chimney liner with cleanout tee & drain connection installed. The chimney liner shall terminate a min of 24" above the existing masonry with a rain cap. 5. Expansion tanks shall remain and properly piped into the hot water system. 6. All required boiler drain piping to run to existing drains. 7. The existing gas pilot piping and pressure relief piping to be reconnected to the new boilers and shall include a new gas regulator properly sized to provide less than 14" WC gas pressure at full firing rate. 8. Reconnect the existing 208-3-60 power supply to each new boiler. Provide new manual disconnect on each boiler. 9. The existing Bock water heater shall remain as piped, wired and vented. 10. All new hot water piping shall be Sch 40 A53B ERW. Vic type fittings are acceptable. All pipe insulation shall be 1" thick up to 1.5" pipe and 1.5" thick for all larger sizes. 11. All electrical wiring shall meet or exceed the minimum standards set by the National Electrical Code (NEC) as well as be done in a neat and workmanlike manner. 12. All valves for boilers, pumps and hydronic heating equipment must be submitted to and approved by the supervisor of Buildings and Grounds. The following schedule will be followed: 2" and smaller shall be bronze IPS ball valves with adjustable packing 2.5" and larger will be lugged butterfly valves Gas valves will be AGA-rated full port IPS ball valves 13. All existing system thermometers and gauges will be replaced with new. For isolation purposes, thermometers will be well-mounted and gauges will be isolated with ball valves. Temperature and pressure ranges are to be field verified by the Mechanical Contractor. 14. Furnish & install (3) new BG hot water circulating pumps & accessories sized to match existing.
