Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. Installation of approximately 600 feet of six inch watermain, new service connections and other watermain materials, in Marion Road, Burlington, MA The work under this contract will include all equipment, labor, material, supplies, etc. necessary to furnish the work described in this contract. All materials used must comply with the current Town of Burlington Street Opening Rules and Regulations. Work under this contract will include the installation of approximately 600 feet of six (6) inch zinc coated class 52 cement line ductile iron watermain in Marion Road. This new main will replace an existing six (6) inch asbestos cement main. Work will commence at a new eight (8) inch by six (6) inch tee, with the new tee being cut into the existing eight (8) inch asbestos cement main in Carey Avenue. A triple gated system will be installed on the new tee in Carey Avenue, with two (2) new eight (8) inch gate valves being installed upstream and downstream, and one (1) new six (6) inch gate valve off of the branch of the tee for Marion Road. The through branch of the tee and eight (8) inch gates will be placed into service upon completion of the work, and the six inch gate for Marion Road will remain CLOSED for pressure and disinfection testing. Starting at the new tee in Carey Avenue, the proposed six (6) inch main will continue westerly down Marion Road, as depicted upon the plan set, terminating at a new hydrant adjacent to the driveway of house number five (5) Marion Road. Each residential water service will be replaced with new one (1) inch type K copper tubing, including a new Muller open left, or approved equal, one (1) inch curb stop. The means of connecting to existing services will be made/determined in the field based upon the size and material encountered in the field. A new future water service will be installed on the western side of the driveway of number four (4) Marion road, as depicted upon the plan set/as directed by the Engineer. The new service line will be terminated in a new curb stop, to be buried in the off position and the corporation tap, to be buried in the on position. The existing hydrant in front of number one (1) Marion Road will be replaced with a new Clow Eddy with drain port, model number F-2640, and six inch gate valve, and a new hydrant will be installed adjacent to number five (5) Marion Road, as previously stated. Once the new main in Marion is tested and in service, the existing main connection at the intersection of Marion Road and Carey Avenue, will be excavated, and the existing tee and gate removed and replaced with a new possible eight (8) inch to six (6) inch reducer if necessary, length of appropriately sized pipe cement line ductile iron pipe, and dresser couplings, installed to replace the old connection. At the same time the existing six (6) inch main in Marion Road will be abandoned in place and cut and capped. The intention is to keep the existing six (6) inch main live during the installation of the new main, keeping water service to all residents and hydrant. No temporary water is proposed as part of this project.
