Description

Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in Riverside, California. Design plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

Four timber bridges to be replaced along Chuckwalla Valley Road. The county will be building modern two-lane bridges in place of the existing structures. The bridges will be between 60 to 80 feet long and have a curb-to-curb roadway width of 32 feet. The travel lanes to be 12 feet wide in each direction with four-foot shoulders. Plans also include building traffic barriers and railings along the bridges per state safety design standards. The county will make channel and approach roadway improvements. Per the owner, as of February 7, 2025, a design team has been selected. The owner states that a general contractor will be selected closer to the anticipated start of construction, which is projected for late 2027.
