Phase 2.0 of River Hall YYC pilot project. This initiative is part of the Greater Downtown Plan, approved in 2021, which aims to transform downtown Calgary into a vibrant economic and cultural hub, in part through reimagining where lands can serve more than one purpose to better meet community needs. In the summer of 2024, The City launched Phase 1.0 of River Hall YYC, a pilot project featuring a five-week event series that offered Calgarians a temporary gathering space and free programming. Phase 2.0 of River Hall YYC will further activate the space at 311 8th St SW (Parking Lot 6). TIMELINE: Request for Proposals from engineering consultants for design services is underway. The Consultant will be responsible for designing two (2) proof-of-concept options for the space, finalizing detailed design drawings for the selected option, supporting The City to develop construction specifications, prepare the construction procurement, and administer construction, as well as managing the programming and site operations. Construction start is planned for mid-2025.
