The 2025 Resurfacing and Miscellaneous Paving - Phase 1 project is a City-wide resurfacing project that includes numerous streets in each ward for approximately 34 centerline miles of resurfacing. Major project components include removing the asphalt surface course, adjusting manhole and valve box castings by riser rings, intermediate course paving (as directed), and surface course paving. Additional work may include additional asphalt depth removal, underdrain installations, subbase replacement, manhole casting and valve box adjustments, base course asphalt paving, intermediate course paving, and railroad coordination as directed by the Engineer. City of Akron Local Goal: 18% EDGE/DBE/MBE/WBE/SBE/VBE (minimum 3% WBE) Disadvantaged Business (DBE) participation goals (subcontracts, materials, supplies) have been set on this Project for those certified as DBE's in accordance with a federal agency such as the Small Business Administration or the Department of Transportation or by an approved State of Ohio agency. The Unified Certification Program (UCP) administered by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) can provide necessary DBE certifications All contractors and subcontractors involved with the project will, to the extent practicable, use Ohio products, materials, services, and labor in the implementation of their project. Domestic steel use requirements as specified in Section 153.011 of the Ohio Revised Code apply to this Project. Copies of Section 153.011 of the Ohio Revised Code can be obtained from the Ohio Department of Administrative Services. Except as provided in Section 102.07 of the City of Akron, Construction and Materials Specifications, 2008 Edition, each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check in the sum of 10% of bids on a solvent bank, or a bid bond in like amount, acceptable to the City of Akron, as a guarantee, that if the proposal is accepted, a contract will be entered into. Except as provided in Section 103.05 of the City of Akron, Construction and Materials Specifications, 2008 Edition, the Proposer to whom the Agreement is awarded will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in the sum of 100% of the Contract Price for the faithful performance of the contract. The performance and payment bond shall remain in full effect until Final Completion of the Project. Proposals may be held by City for a period not to exceed one hundred twenty (120) days after the date Proposals are opened for the purpose of reviewing the Proposals and investigating the qualifications of Proposers prior to awarding the Agreement.
