The City of Red Deer performs several projects to enhance the City’s Transportation and Traffic network. The City’s Traffic Department has identified that this intersection needs improvement due to vehicular congestion in the area, as well concerns with pedestrian safety when crossing 30th Avenue. The improvements consist of the partial / complete removal of the existing westbound and eastbound medians on 22nd Street, and the construction of new traffic storage bays and left turning lanes – turning from 22nd Street onto 30th Avenue in each direction. The existing median signals on both sides of the intersection will need to be relocated and/or removed to accommodate the new turn lanes (to be completed by EL&P).
