In general, the work consists of: replacing the existing hangar doors for PODs 5 and 6 at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Madison. Work includes removing the existing doors on each side, supports, cabling, counterweights, and the existing superstructure at the bump out of the pods. Existing mechanical and electrical equipment will be relocated or replaced. The concrete aprons will be demolished to allow installation of new foundations. The additions will consist of new foundations, steel superstructure, hangar doors, electrical and mechanical work. New structure(s) require roofing, skinning, insulation, pass doors and all associated items. New hangar doors require skinning, insulation, and all associated items. Floors in Pods 5 & 6 will receive new floor coating system. The infrared heating elements will be replaced. Only the additions will be roofed. The existing structure will not get new roofing. Existing louver in the central building will be relocated, including new framing for support. Any soil that is removed from the project for foundations and not replaced as backfill shall be stockpiled in accordance with the project documents and Supplementary General Conditions. The Agency will be responsible for the characterization and disposal of the excess soil. These successful MEP bids must be included in all general prime contractor bids received. No later than 5 days after DFD identifies the successful MEP bids, DFD will publicly open general prime contractor bids. General prime contractor bids that do not include the successful MEP bids will be rejected. The state will enter into a single contract with the lowest, qualified, responsible, certified general prime contractor and this general prime contractor will enter into subcontracts with the successful MEP bidders.
