This initiative aims to foster revitalization by funding transformative projects that reflect Smart Growth principles to stimulate economic development, support adaptive reuse of key buildings and enhance the overall quality of life in the community The City is planning to draft and submit an application to New York State Homes and Community Renewal for funding on behalf of the selected project through the NYMS Downtown Anchor program. The City anticipates the program application being due in late July 2025 with grant awards being announced in December 2025. The selected project will advance through an application to New York State Homes and Community Renewal to potentially receive financial assistance for rehabilitation and redevelopment activities, ensuring long-term community benefits and economic sustainability. Selected proposals must: Outline detailed rehabilitation and redevelopment plans, including design concepts. Specify proposed project activities, such as façade improvements, interior renovations, or structural stabilization. Incorporate energy efficiency upgrades and demonstrate compliance with local building codes. Display alignment with NYMS objectives and community development goals.
