Site work and new construction of a transportation facility in San Antonio, Texas. Completed plans call for the construction of a transportation facility; and for site work for a transportation facility.
https://www.bizjournals.com/sanantonio/news/2025/03/21/sa-new-corporate-pitch-airport-plan.html Local leaders are hopeful the decision to spend $2.5 billion to improve and expand San Antonio International Airport will draw more airlines and flights to the Alamo City. Economic development officials believe they can leverage that investment to entice more companies to plant their flag in the region. It’s a new hook, one that could have a historic impact on South Texas in the long term. “To see shovels in the ground, the investment coming into the airport allows us another point to tout when we're talking with companies,” said Sarah Carabias Rush, chief economic development officer for greater:SATX. Air accessibility is critical for many companies as they assess where to expand or relocate. It’s one of the economic realities that drove city leaders to sign off on the ambitious airport plan. Now, it’s about bringing company executives from various industries up to speed with what’s to come in San Antonio. The airport expansion has become a key part of the corporate recruitment pitch because not everyone is familiar with the plan. “They're just not aware,” Rush said. The heart of the plan is a roughly billion-dollar third terminal that will add as many as 17 new gates at SAT. It also includes a new Federal Inspection Station to accommodate expanded international travel. Other cities in the San Antonio metro area could see economic gains from the landmark investment. “The expansion of SAT is important to our overall regional economic development efforts,” Seguin Economic Development Corp. Executive Director Joshua Schneuker said. “Increasing SAT’s domestic and international connectivity strengthens our region’s competitiveness, especially if we can expand the inventory of nonstop flights,” he added. The launch of San Antonio's airport expansion is timely. Competing markets, including Austin, Denver and Nashville, have also embarked on significant airport expansions. That makes San Antonio’s awareness effort even more critical. “Momentum is the story. When we're talking with companies, particularly on the headquarters side, the airport and access is going to be a key component of that,” Rush said. --------------------------------------------------------------- Hensel Phelps Construction Co., Construction Manager at Risk, will be soliciting proposals from subcontractors for the construction of The City of San Antonio - New Terminal Facility Project, San Antonio International Airport, San Antonio, TX.
