Question Deadline 03/10/2025 at 2:00 PM ET Sealed bids are invited for the construction of Santoro Hall Roof at Newport News, VA. PC#242-B4242-003. The project is located at Santoro Hall on the Christopher Newport University campus consists of demolition, removal, and replacement of low slope roof with related flashing and curbings. The existing ballasted EPDM roof to be removed and disposed of in its entirety. A new low slope modified bitumen roof system isto be installed over existing hollow core concrete plank deck. All related flashings, penetrations, and curbings are encompassed in the roof replacement. A New roof hatch and hatch railing and post system will be installed. Existing overflow roof drain scuppers are to be enlarged and added to meet proper overflow drainage. Roof walk pads from the roof hatch to existing mechanical equipment also are included in the replacement of the roof. A. The provisions of this Section shall govern the installation of low-slope flexible membrane roofing in coordination with the roofing specifications. B. This section includes special provisions for low-slope roofing membranes on stateowned buildings. C. This section includes the coordination with the Owner's roof consultant, inspection services provider, and full-time roof inspector. 1.2 Owner's Roofing Inspection A. The Owner shall have a full-time roof inspector on site while the roof is being applied. The Contractor shall provide twenty-four (24) hours notice to the roof inspector prior to the installation of any roofing materials. The Contractor shall allow the roof inspector access to the work. B. Installation of roofing materials shall not be started without the roof inspector having a copy of the A/E approved Shop Drawings showing the ASTM's or other standards of the roofing materials. C. The roof inspector will check all materials and application procedures and prepare a daily written report. D. A copy of the daily report shall be given to the General Contractor, A/E, and the Owner. E. The roof inspector's scope of work: (1) The inspector shall monitor the work for compliance with the Contract Documents (2) The inspector shall continuously monitor and observe the work at the point of application during installation of the roof. (3) The inspector shall immediately report any deficiencies or deviations to the architect and Owner. A written report shall follow an oral report within two business days. (4) The inspector may recommend suspension of work or rejection of non-complying work to the A/E and Owner. (5) The inspector shall not: a. Authorize deviations from the Contract Documents. b. Enter the area of responsibility of the Contractor. c. Issue orders on any aspect of construction means, methods, techniques, sequences, procedures, or safety in connection with the work
