The Town of Windsor is requesting proposals for professional on-call traffic engineering services. The objective of the proposal is to provide the Town with comprehensive and professional on-call traffic engineering services as defined by Town staff. The Town is requesting services for a two-year period with an option to extend for additional three one-year periods. Current Traffic Engineering services have been provided to the Town through a professional services contract. The consultant will work under the direction of the Public Works Director/Town Engineer. Competitive proposals will be submitted by the consultants for common engineering tasks such as general traffic engineering, capital improvement program assistance, private development review, and long-range transportation planning. In addition, the Town is interested in forward thinking and progressive ideas. Consultants should develop creative solutions for: competitive grant writing services, managing issues with current infrastructure, and future transportation planning. It is critical to keep Town staff informed of new and innovative technology and methodologies and how to integrate advanced systems into existing equipment and existing road conditions. Consultants will be expected to work alongside Town Project Manager to review and complete a CIP Sustainability Checklist during services. The checklist is intended to guide project teams through identifying opportunities for sustainable design and operations. A strong relationship with Caltrans District 4 is required due to a number of federally funded road projects which are administered through Caltrans. The Town may consider more than one consultant firm to provide traffic engineering services given the current demands for services.
