Reference Number 0000377186 Delivery Point: Clerk's Office Purchase Type: One Time Only- Delivery Date: Upon Award Project Overview: The Charter Township of Shelby Parks, Recreation, Maintenance, Senior, and Nature Center department is seeking proposals for a professional landscape or playground contractor to collaborate with the Township to design and install a nature playscape at the Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center (4101 River Bends Drive). Scope and Specifications: Create a Phased Design Plan and layout play equipment within designated area (see image below). Phase 1 should include play equipment that will not exceed the budget set in this bid. This bid is only for engineering/construction of Phase 1. Phase 2 should include potential play equipment that could be added in the future if additional funding is secured. These costs should be listed on a document separate from your Proposal Sheet so as not to exceed the bid's maximum budget of $300,000. The Township is interested in a unique play area with interactive, kinetic, inclusive, natural, and ADA play options that offer a great play value score. All play equipment needs to be ASTM F1487 compliant. Play equipment is preferred to contain natural wood elements to better fit the forest environment. Equipment should foster a sense of "playing in the woods", with preference for equipment that offers opportunities to climb, crawl, balance, and jump across logs, ropes, and/or rocks. This space should feel more like a natural play area vs. a traditional playground. There should be at least: One (1) play structure or area for children 2-5 One (1) play structure or area for children 5-12 Total square footage of play structures including fall zones must be kept within designated space. Includes playground surfacing/fall material to meet IPEMA specifications and be accessible by wheeled adaptive devices. Proposals should include design, engineering and installation of drainage systems. Design, engineering and installation of walkway leading to play area. Site preparation and excavation Township PRM will be responsible for the installation of fencing but should be included in your design plan. Acceptance/Rejection the Township reserves the right to accept any bid, to reject any and all bids in whole or part or to waive any irregularities in any bid that is in the best interest of the Township.
