The project includes the replacement of select roof areas and re-covering of other roof areas totaling approximately 69,000 square feet at UAB Volker Hall. For the areas noted to be replaced in the Project Documents, the scope of work includes removal of all existing roofing surfacing, roof membranes, and insulation to expose the underlying structural concrete or metal deck and installation of a new roof system consisting of new self-adhered vapor retarder (if necessary to meet project requirements) minimum LTTR-25 insulation, tapered insulation as necessary to achieve desired roof slope, cover board, and new 80 mil. PVC fully adhered roof membrane. For the areas noted to be re-covered (other than Roof Area 9), the scope of work includes preparation of the existing roof covering (including removal of aggregate surfacing) mechanically fastening a new coverboard and instllaing a new 80 mil. PVC fully adhered membrane. At Roof Area 9, existing insulated concrete pavers are to be salvaged, a new fleeceback PVC membrane installed on existing suitable substrate, and new extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation and salvaged insulated pavers to be installed to achieve LTTR-25 minimum. Existing mechanical units, ductwork, pipes, etc. are to be supported or raised as necessary to remove and install a new roof assembly in compliance with the project documents. Raising of roof-to-wall flashings and modifications to other ancillary roof accessories (e.g. stairs and access door) are required. Drainage improvements in the scope of work include installation of two new overflow drains, associated piping, and an outlet as well as enlarging existing through wall scuppers. The scope of work also includes demolition and removal of existing mechanical screen walls, duct work, and an enclosure and roof covering constructed over original rooftop duct work. UAB Volker Hall Roof Replacement Project Prime Contractors that are properly licensed for this type of work are required to prequalify in order to bid.
