Renovation of an educational facility in Norco, California. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a 100,815-square-foot educational facility.
This project proposes to construct a new STEM (Phase I) Building at Norco College. The proposed STEM (Phase I) building is planned to encompass 100,815 Gross Square Feet (GSF) and consists of 65,530 Assignable Square Feet (ASF) and will consolidate programs currently housed in the Applied Technology Education Center (ATEC) and Industrial Technology (IT) buildings. The proposed project will expand instructional capacity for growth within science and engineering programs. The new facility will include modern technology and infrastructure that is essential to student success. Functional space within the proposed building will include 14,600 ASF of Classroom, 41,230 ASF of Laboratory, 5,660 ASF of Office, 570 ASF of Library, and 3,470 ASF of Other Support space. The project is proposed to be located adjacent to Parking Lot B, to the east of the campus core. All programs from the existing ATEC and IT buildings will be moved into the new facility, and the ATEC and IT buildings will be inactivated as secondary effects of the proposed project. The existing ATEC and IT buildings will eventually be reconstructed and repurposed in a separate future capital construction project. Total project cost for the proposed new STEM building is estimated at $101,227,744 (per Construction Cost Index (CCI) 9654 and not escalated to mid-point of construction) and is designated as a Category G: Growth project by the State Capital Outlay program. As of March 3, 2026, this project is included in the state's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Information regarding a design team or general contractor has not been determined. Funding for construction is anticipated in 2027. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
