Site work and new construction of a clubhouse / community center in Ottawa, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 160,000-square-foot, one-story above grade clubhouse / community center; and for site work for a clubhouse / community center.
The recreation complex is proposed to have a gross floor area of approximately 160,000 ft2 (14,864 m2 ) and will include an indoor aquatic facility; an arena with 2 NHL-size ice pads; a gymnasium; a fitness studio; a cardio and weights area; multi-purpose rooms; a meeting room; change rooms; customer service / reception desk; lobby space; and support spaces within a single building on a park site. The District Park is planned to be developed in phases. Phase 1 will include the recreation complex, and associated parking, loading/ receiving area, pedestrian/ cycling/ public transportation facilities, a playground, splash pad, outdoor fitness area, shade structure, servicing, entrance plazas, landscaping, and exterior lighting. The remainder of the District Park will be developed through future projects. The District Park has an area of 18.5 hectares and is located on part of 1751 Earl Armstrong Road. TIMELINE: An RFQ for design services has closed. The pre-qualified firms have been listed. Updates will be made upon award of contract, expected fall 2025. The anticipated period of contract for design services is from the date of award to December 31, 2027. Official bid documents must be obtained from www.merx.com and bid submissions must be done through the Merx platform.
