(KOTA) - Rapid Valley Elementary School is preparing for a major expansion as Rapid City’s continued growth puts increasing pressure on schools in surrounding neighborhoods like Rapid Valley and Box Elder. District leaders say instead of tearing down and rebuilding, they chose to expand and modernize the current building, citing available space on the existing property. Parents have also been vocal about the need for upgrades, and the district says the project fits into a multi-year master plan aimed at addressing enrollment and facility needs across its elementary schools. The expansion will include 10 new classrooms, new administrative offices, a gym, a lunchroom, and a new HVAC system.
