2025 Selective Roof Replacement for Arthur Mallory Early Childhood Center Question Cutt-off Date & Time 3/17/2025 11:00:00 AM (ET) Time is of the essence and it is the intent of the Owner to begin work no later than July 1, 2025 and have the work substantially completed no later than August 12, 2025. Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond, executed by the Bidder and a duly authorized surety company, certified check, or cashiers check made unconditionally payable to the Springfield Public Schools R-12 for an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the maximum bid or bids submitted. The bid security pledges that the Bidder will enter into a Contract with the Owner on the terms stated in the Bid and will, if required, furnish bonds covering the faithful performance of the Contract and payment of all obligations arising thereunder. Bid bond must be submitted to Owner as part of bidding documents. Bid Bond shall be written by a surety firm acceptable to the Owner, and shall guarantee that: if the Bidder is awarded Contract with Owner within thirty (30) days from the date bids were received, he will enter into a contract with the Owner within ten (10) days after receipt of notice of award, and that a Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bond for 100% of the amount of the Contract will be provided as required by Article 7. The owner reserves the right to retain the security of all bidders until the successful bidder enters into the Contract or until 30 days after bid opening, whichever is sooner. Notice of award or rejection shall be given within 30 days of bid opening. Bid securities will be returned as soon as practical. Roof Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 – Metal Decking: 1. Clean debris and residue from existing roof, remove coping cap and drip edge and any other necessary materials for preparation to receive completely new roof system. 2. Cut out existing insulation around roof drains to increase sump area to drain, extend approximately 48” from drain center. 3. Install tapered insulation as indicated on Arthur Mallory Roof Taper Map. 4. Mechanically attach ½” HDF cover board as the existing roof system does not have cover board installed, 50 mil PVC membrane, and any necessary accessories for complete new roof system. 5. Fully encapsulate horizontal surfaces, terminating on with new edge metals comparable to existing style and as outlined in Contract Documents. Colors to be confirmed with owner. 6. Membrane shall go up and over parapet walls. Sections 2 and 7 shall be terminated at siding and EIFS by termination bar and manufacturer recommended urethane caulking. • Abandoned curb near the roof hatch shall be removed and covered. • Wall end caps at the far North and South ends of roof sections 3 & 4 shall be repaired from rot if needed and membrane shall wrap over these sections as indicated on Wall Map in purple. • At East end of sections 3/5 that meet large wall, the shingled area decking is to be repaired and covered with membrane and incorporated into roofing system. Membrane on tall wall shall be terminated under flashing, below existing siding. Area noted on Wall Map in Yellow. • Roof Section 6 has building power over this section. The Contractor is responsible for shutting off power as needed for safe roof application and coordinating this with Owner with advance notice of power being shut off. • Install new downspouts on southwest scupper boxes of roof section 3, integrating into existing horizontal drain line at ground level. Existing horizontal drain line at ground level to be replaced. • Install pre-fabricated PVC scupper lining sleeves, on all four surfaces, integrated into roofing system. • Install new scupper boxes. • East wall of sections 3 & 4 is a shared wall with our neighbors, we do not own the building on the other side. No materials, trash, debris, or contractor employees shall be on the roof of the other building. • The east wall of sections 3 & 4 shall receive a new full coping cap. • Install walk-pads per Arthur Mallory Walk Pad Map. • Install new pipe supports as outlined in Contract Documents. • Paint all gas lines over roof sections safety yellow. • Installation of roofing system as well as all terminations shall follow manufacturer approved installation methods. Deviations shall be approved by manufacturer and provided to Owner. Question Deadline 03/17/2025 at 10:00 AM CT
