Niagara Health intends to carry out the renovation of an existing radiation bunker vault ("Bunker #1") on Level 1 at the Walker Family Cancer Center building to house a newly purchased state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator (LINAC). The TrueBeam unit has been procured by the hospital and will be supplied and installed by Varian Medical Systems Inc., an industry leader in the delivery of advanced radiosurgical treatment and radiation therapy, including external beam therapy. This new technology provide greater accuracy to irradiate tumors of large and small volumes, and of different localization and shape without affecting surrounding healthy tissues. The renovation will comprise of the main Treatment room and all support areas required, including a dedicated Control room. Bunker #1 is surrounded by an adjacent LINAC Bunker #2 to the west which will remain in clinical use and operate unimpeded throughout construction. THE BIDDERS MUST MEET THE MANDATORY REQUIREMENT OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE LAST THREE (3) YEARS IN PROVIDING ROOM RENOVATION AND DESIGN-BUILD SOLUTIONS FOR EQUIPMENT INSTALLATIONS SPECIFIC TO LINAC EQUIPMENT. BIDDERS THAT DO NOT MEET THIS REQUIREMENT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND THE MANDATORY SITE VISIT AND SUBMIT A BID. The bidder must have relevant experience within the last three (3) years in the providing room renovation and design-build solutions for equipment installations specific to LINAC equipment. Bidder is expected to demonstrate expertise in both the proposed solution and the LINAC equipment being installed. Bidder must provide at least 2 references from LINAC projects completed within the last 3 years, including project scope, construction cost, completion date and client contact details..
