The Town Center project is a bold initiative to transform a 20-acre anchor site in the Central City Redevelopment Area into a vibrant, mixed-use development that will simultaneously activate Pioneer Grove and serve as the center of municipal services. The site includes City Hall, Broward Sheriffs Office Headquarters, the tennis center, baseball field, and boat ramp. This will transform into an innovative space that will not only streamline government services, but will also serve as a catalyst for the surrounding areas redevelopment. A new, centrally located government campus will anchor the project and serve as a model for transparency and accessibility. Designed with a focus on public interaction, it will offer a welcoming and efficient environment for residents to engage with city services. The preliminary cost estimate is based on similar town center projects using an estimate of 75,000 square feet at $1000 per square foot. The city intends to form potential public-private partnerships to leverage resources to increase amenities including increasing green space, upgrading existing parks facilities, and incorporating a blend of residential units, commercial spaces, and retail outlets to create an active dynamic and self-sustaining district. The Town Center is more than a public-facing government site, it is vision for a thriving, inclusive downtown that celebrates the city's cultural heritage and fosters economic growth. By embracing innovation and collaboration, this project has the potential to transform Pioneer Grove into a cornerstone of the community that attracts residents, businesses, and visitors. The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
