The scope of work for this project will include: - Milling - Cold planing to shape the crown of the road and to increase the curb reveal and or match the concrete gutters that exist - Shim or Leveling Course - applied bituminous concrete to level or shape the road crown prior to a full overlay course - No Base Preparation - simply overlaying the existing pavement - Adjust Structures - in preparing for the resurfacing of the roads regardless of the base preparation the manholes, catch basin grates and water valve boxes will have to be adjusted to the proposed finish grade. Attached are a map and a list of the streets that are currently being considered for resurfacing. The City anticipates that there will be pre-construction meetings to discuss each street to be resurfaced. At these pre-construction meetings, final decisions will be made on the processes and methods to be used to prepare forthe new road surfaces, based on the contractor's experience and available information on each street. Adjustments will be made to the Asphalt Concrete prices based on the cost of asphalt binder for plant mix in accordance with NCDOT's 2018 'Standard Specifications for Roads and Structures,' based on current pricing index. The Bidders for this project are required to submit a Bid Bond for 5% of the bid amount using the attached form. The successful Bidder will be required to submit a Payment Bond and a Performance Bond in the amount of the bid price, using the attached form. Forthe purpose ofreceiving and comparing competitive bidsforthe 2023-2024 Resurfacing of City Streets, the contractors must submit their bid using all of the attached 'Bid Sheets'. The City expects that there are more streets listed on the attached list than can be completed with the approved budget; hence, the contractor's expectations should be that the City will limit the amount of work awarded to the successful bidder based on its approved budget.
